Winter Retreat

Fripp Island is a great place to spend the winter months. The winters are usually milder than northern states, yet still cool enough to wear your cold weather apparel. The average temperatures range from 40 degrees for a low to a mild mid 60’s for the high. And, spring weather arrives mid February to early March.

In addition to mild temps, the marine life and shells make an entertaining beach walk. Full time residents enjoy the peaceful time of year with golf tournaments, holiday celebrations such as the Christmas boat parade, Friday evenings at the Oceanview Lounge, Valentine’s Day dinner at the Beach Club, as well as community dinners, Friends of Music concerts, and much more.

Day trips from Fripp include riverfront downtown Beaufort, happening Hilton Head, historical Charleston, bustling Savannah. Downtown Beaufort offers many great shops that are locally owned and appreciate your business. Hilton Head offers outlet mall shopping as well as local boutiques and restaurants. Charleston is full of history and charm. Savannah is oldest city in Georgia filled with history as well as new development.

Downtown Beaufort has many festivals and celebrations and below is the link to the calendar of events.  Fripp is about at 25 to 30 minute drive to downtown, and Beaufort makes an excellent day trip.

Between Fripp and Beaufort is an area called Frogmore on St. Helena Island.  The Penn Center is located on St. Helena Island and is the site to the former Penn School.  This area boasts historical legacy and is a cultural treasure as you will see on the website information.
